Hi Steve,

For those of us who get asked to promote one thing or another on our blogs, it's not a bad idea to have an "endorsement" policy of some sort. I've put mine toward the bottom of my "About" page:

Your post today made be add a bit about "the opinions expressed are only my own." Thanks for the inspiration.

Never thought about the disclosure statement before. I mean, I've had several entries that disclose the fact that I'm running some sponsored ads on the site, or whether a particular product I'm talking about was purchased by my school or not.

But I haven't felt the need to "come clean" probably for the same reason you originally didn't. How many people are honestly reading my work, and taking it seriously, or as a basis to make decisions on for their classroom or school building. I trust that if someone is going to invest a substantial amount of time and or financial resources into something, it's because they've done their homework, and have found other credible sources that support my statements. When I go shopping online, I'm looking for a consensus, not just one subjective viewpoint, and I hope people do the same for what I write, when I actually write something profound that is.

I already had a disclosure statement on my About page, and I like the minimalist approach. Mine says "The views expressed on this website/weblog are mine alone and do not necessarily reflect the views of my employer." I've never been asked to post anything to receive perks.

I did post something about a service once (Yugma) to receive a premium upgrade to my account, but I was honest about what I was doing.

Pam Shoemaker´s most recent blog post.. Cool 3D Design: Roxik
