I think the evolution of education and technology is awesome. During a recent visit to my boss’s house. Her 5 year old was “playing” with a counting and writing numbers tutorial on an iPad. She was loving it! (And learning at the same time!) I think if used correctly–technology can only benefit education.

I think we are headed in the right direction in terms of integrating technology into education, however; more can be done. In general, kids have access to more information and are learning more now than ever before. That said, we need to continue shortening the digital gap between the less fortunate (inner city kids) and the fortunate. More schoolbooks need to be digitized and there needs to be more interactive learning in the classroom and from home via the internet. Also, we need to lobby to congress to ensure all kids in all schools have computers, bridging the gap between the have’s and the have not’s.

@kaycee: yes, it’s definitely true! Some kids nowadays ditch school in exchange for internet games and stuffs. Online learning can be a great tool to lure these netizens to learn while studying. But on the contrary, If I were to choose between having a real teacher and one that’s on the screen, I’d definitely pick out the former.
