Old School with ASCIIwp
Ok, I don’t think I can keep this theme because it doesn’t have WordPress Widgets.
But tell me the truth, doesn’t it just take you back to the good ol’ days? Browsing with Lynx, chatting on ISCA, exploring the virtual worlds through MUD‘s and MOO‘s and MUSH‘s?
Good times…. Good times…
Oh yeah, the theme is ASCIIwp.
Quick, before your eyes get too misty, share an old school memory.
Mine is spending hour after hour in the original chat rooms, DDials. Yes, this is before Al Gore invented the Internet. 8 phone lines, 8 modems, 1 computer, all linked up together at blazing 300 baud speeds.
My handle used to be \/\/ild Guy. Yes, that’s exactly the kind of handle a 6th grader would come up with!

Mine is loading up ProComm Plus on my old 8088 with a CGA card (had to be an early color adopter, right?!) and dialing into Moonshae, which later became Galacticomm BBS. They had like 4 lines, WHOA!
Man, old school. I remember my first 8088, totally monochrome. Thanks for the good reminiscience.

You are in a maze of twisty little passages, all alike…

Just needs to be phosphor green on black. perfection.
It is pitch black. You are likely to be eaten by a grue.

I’m far too young to roll with you people when it comes to remembering ASCI art in it’s prime and 800 baud modems. I do however, have fond memories of playing Trade Wars via a local BBS system on my Packard Bell and my 14400 modem.

800 baud? I wish! I had a smokin’ hot 300 baud modem. I could type faster
You kids and your gigabit ethernet LANs… Back in my day, we sent IP packets by carrier pigeon, and we liked it.

Carrier Pigeon? We just had one guy in a bird costume that would run our messages back and forth!
… we always wondered about him. Not right in the head, I say …

Talk about throwback. Definitely reminds me of some of the MUDS that I used to troll around in. It’s funny though, with all of the new web 2.0 chat applications out there, my online gaming guild still used IRC as their primary source for chat communications. Nothing better than /me smacks %%t around with a trout!

You are in a blog. In front of you is ASCII art. You see several people making comments.
