This email is [x] bloggable
I got an email today from Susan J GetGood letting me know about a photo contest going on. While I was happy that she mentioned it to me, her email signature really stood out.
This e-mail is [ ] private [x] bloggable/quotable [ ] please ask first
I love that and may have to start including that in my email signature. On multiple occasions, I’ve had to ask people whether something they sent me via email was bloggable. Or the inverse, I’ve had to specifically make sure that people know that the contents of an email I sent were NOT bloggable.
This is a solid visual reminder to think about that before sending out an email, and also to make it clear for the receiver what rights they have for the content therein.

Steve — glad you found the footer useful. I do recommend that if you have something particularly sensitive that you also highlight this in the email — “confidentially” “just between you and me” etc.
