Spammer with a sense of humor

Spam Karma for Wordpress does a pretty darn decent job of filtering everything. In fact, it’s caught about 700 spam comments in the last two weeks, without even bringing it to my attention. Occasionally, a comment is held in a queue because it isn’t sure if it’s spam or not. I got one such comment today and actually got a chuckle from it.

Nice. Very nice.
But I like your guestbook the most.
Unfortunately there’s too much spam in it.

I may not have the guestbook, but I like the idea of a spammer complaining about there being too much spam.

Hey, it made me smile as I deleted it. If you’re going to be a splogger, at least have some fun with it I guess. Or don’t do it at all. That’d be even better.

Speaking of possible ways around our friendly neighborhood spamers, here’s a possibilty from the Digital Goddess, herself, Kim Komando:

“‘Hide’ your e-mail address

Today’s Cool Site features a handy little tool. It will turn your e-mail address into an image file.

Just type in your user name, select your e-mail provider and click Generate. You’ll get a picture that displays your address. It also generates a link to the address.

I know some of you may be scratching your head, saying, “Why would I want a picture of my e-mail address?” The answer can be summed up in one word: spam.

When you post something in a blog or a forum, use the image instead of text. Spammers use automated programs to scour the Web for e-mail addresses. The software can’t read image files. But, people who want to contact you will be able to read it. Isn’t that cool?”

Haven’t tried it, but I’m sure I will in a matter of seconds!

Someone else below asked this already about antispam scripts.
I am getting nailed with Spam on my website mails and in our blog website - now its offline too

much spam. Is there anyway to stop this? If not, there really isn’t any point in leaving it up

and active. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for help, Keep up the good work. Greetings from Poland
