Podcastercon2006 : The photo gallery

Photos have been uploaded. Appearantly I took a ton of photos at the ‘advanced’ session and not so many at the education session. Too busy running around with a microphone and being inspired by what everyone was saying I guess.

Click on the link above to see them all, but here’s a few to whet your appetite.

Yes, there were a few teens there. Oh yeah, check out the way cool retro-recycled name tags.

  • I’m a teacher in the uk and just discovering the value of using podcasts for absent students to help them catch up.

  • I think our education system is far behind the technology of today, need a lot of changes to catch up with the new technological era, at least where I’m here in the US of A.

  • I’ve got to agree with John. What is getting taught in schools is so far behind the technology that is readily available that it is embarrassing, and it’s of little use to the kids hoping to learn something that will be of use in whatever jobs they end up doing.

  • Podcasts are great for students. My son has a teach that gave him podcasts to listen to because he missed 1month of school do to health issues. I would say podcasts are a great way for students to not fall behind when they miss school.

John and Julie i agree with you to a point. There are lots of school that are ahead and right on point when it comes to technology such as the school my son goes to. Then again it seems like the smaller schools are falling behind on that part. Maybe because they dont have the money to fund the upgrades.

  • Thanks for the photos; I think it’s really up to teachers to push this type of technology into our schools.

  • I definitely agree with a lot of the guys here. It is just appropriate that teachers take advantage of the fact that most students are digital citizens using computers, tablets and iPods everyday to support learning and teaching.

  • May I add that even with the wide use of podcasts nowadays, a lot of schools still have not tapped that resource to teaching students. Probably because of the lack of equipment but school departments should allot a certain budget for this.

  • Yes, it will be the decision of our teachers to incorporate such forms of technology to enhance learning.
