I’ve certainly come across a lot of new ideas and opinions in the course of managing the awards. The blogoshere isn’t necessarily any more self-referential than life offline – I know many people who safely immerse themselves in the known in their lives, avoiding anything that looks too different. It’s a mind-set rather than a product of blogging!

"Should" be checking? From what I can see, the blogosphere is self-referential: everyone subscribes to blogs that reflect thei own worl view: so where do the new ideas come from?
