Ho boy, this is going to be a fun one to listen to. The Presidential Awards for Mathematics and Science Teaching are having their award recipients create podcasts!
PAEMST, with assistance from Apple Computer, Inc., is pleased to announce a new project utilizing Apple iPods in learning. During 2005, PAEMST recipients will be invited to participate in exclusive “podcasts” of lesson ideas, classroom curricula innovations, and effective teaching tips offered by fellow Presidential Award recipients.
The goal is to build upon nationally recognized teaching practices, share these among all PAEMST recipients, and collectively explore the world of educational possibilities via the use of iPods in- and outside the classroom.
During the year, each recipient will be invited to produce one or two audio recordings focused around a specific lesson idea or teaching tip of their choosing, to be distributed to all 2004 PAEMST recipients. Technical assistance will be available to help develop these recordings and successfully distribute them to the other recipients.
Very, VERY cool stuff. Note, Apple is assisting the program. So far they haven’t really done much to recognize the podcasting craze. I’m still hoping they’ll create an iPod with a built in mic that actually records with decent quality, and an iCast program to go along with it.
Regardless, these should be some fantastic resources for teachers. Award winning teachers creating lesson specific podcasts that are freely distributed. I want to subscribe to that feed.
Mmmmmm….. Award winning Kool Aid.
