You know you want to start edublogging, so why wait?

Saw this post by James Farmer and realized that it’s been a while since I posted a link to his IncSub blogs. It’s an install of WordPress Multiuser that he has opened up to educators. Hey says, “It’s the best free edublogging service I know.” I do have to admit that I’m impartial to WordPress, after all it’s what I use, but it’s far from the only free blogging service and it may not quite have a lock on the ‘best’ award either!

There’s also Blogmeister, the blog engine created by Dave Warlick designed specifically for education. It’s the only one with an editorial process built in that specifically addresses the needs of teachers blogging with their students. If you’re a teacher and planning to do some blogging with your students, you may want to start here.

Finally, there’s always Blogger which is free to everyone, not just educators. It’s free, it’s simply, and you know it’s not gong anywhere. Most bloggers I know started there and then bought some hosting and moved to WordPress or Movable Type or Radioland. I started there myself for a few weeks way back in the day.

It’s free! It’s easy! You’ve got nothing to lose! There’s no invest besides your time! So give me a reason not to give it a try. I dare you.

Steve,

The “free” think is a big part of what is exciting about blogosphere developments. I got an e-mail this morning from an educator in Michigan, tell me that for the first time, he left their state conference (MACUL) without technolust (new technologies to have to pay for). The best stuff going on right now (blogging, wikis, RSS, Podcasting) are all free, or practically free. When you have a chance, look at my response.

Dave Warlick

Don’t forget MSN Spaces as a free blogging service.
