I think your idea of a recurring set period for conversation with faculty is not only good but necessary.  It takes a lot of repetition from different perspectives to get many of these points across.  Last term I started a weekly one hour RSS club meeting open to both faculty and students.  The sessions make up a good part of my podcast and screencast.</description>
