Podcast Hosting roundup
Found this Podcast Hosting roundup today. Podcasting is so new that the companies targeting it are just barely starting to crawl out of the woodwork. However, I have to admit that so far I have yet to be thrilled with any services directly aimed at podcasters. From my experience, LibSyn.org does do a pretty decent job though.
The article doesn’t go into too much depth regarding any of the services, but it does provide a decent list of them along with some basic details, just enough to let you know whether you want to look into them further.
I have to admit though, after reading the article I’m more and more satisfied with my current hosting, Bluehost. For 7 bucks a month, I have 75 GB of traffic (I have yet to use over 30GB in a month so far), 2GB worth of web space (I’m using almost 500mb), and can host as many sites as I want. I have three sites right now and will be moving a fourth over to it soon. I can also set up email accounts for any of those sites, as well as ftp accounts, discussion boards, CMS, blogs and just about anything else that I can think of. Add in the fact that every time I’ve ever had to call Bluehost, I’ve spoken to a real live person within minutes of calling and they’ve solved my problem on the first call.
Yes, they’re an affiliate of mine, so I do get a kick back every time someone signs up for them through a link of mine, but I wouldn’t recommend them if I didn’t think they were one of the best deals out there. For seven dollars a month, I think they’re a much better deal than any of those sites that are dedicated to podcasting so far. Plus they throw in a free host name, so you can actually use a real site name instead of xxx.blogspot.com.
It’s early though. I’m sure the really good dedicated podcasting solutions are yet to come.
