They Might Be Giants – Here Come The ABCs (With Exclusive Amazon.com Content)
I love this band. Their kid safe, hilarious for both children and adults, and they also throw in obscure references throughout their songs that kids can actually learn from! A friend of mine actually uses the song Mammal in one of his lessons!
Well, now they’ve really blown my mind. They’ve recently released a new album/DVD called Here Come The ABCs.
From Amazon.com:
They Might Be Giants, longtime purveyors of quirky rock and contemporary icons of a family music scene that’s hipper than you might realize, move beyond mere sound into multi-media entertainment with Here Come the ABC’s. Enlisting a broad array of animators and puppeteers, the band delivers lessons on the alphabet that are as wildly imaginative as they are effective in accomplishing their educational mission. John Flansburgh and John Linnell, who comprise the group, harness catchy pop hooks to cement the letters and, because they’re They Might Be Giants, create some incredibly fun music in the process. The Johns pop up occasionally in puppet form to introduce a few of the 35 tracks and, in a one-song break from the giddy cartoonish action, play a memorable song as their actual human selves. Other highlights include a dreamy look at pandas that paint, the complex relationship of D and W, and some urban tomfoolery with Q and U.
How cool does that sound? I have an iTunes coupon at work that has been waiting for this album. I may even have to buy the DVD. Too bad I won’t be able to get permission to play it on the podcast
Curse you RIAA!

I purchased their “Here Come the ABC’s” online when it was released last 2005 if I am not mistaken. I remember when my silly kids are still 3 and 5 years old we used to bring them on any of our business trip since we don’t have a nanny. Then we just simply play it in our car then they will suddenly behave and sing with it instead. I have to copies of this album, one for car and one for home. This is a fantastic CD that kids of many ages will love, and the lyrics are safe for even the most conservative of parents
