Bah. Don’t forget to save.
I had taken a whole bunch of notes at this workshop about data driven decision making, and then accidently closed the window. I have to remember to save more often or use word with AutoSave on and then paste it into the blog.
At least I found a power source. I have to remember to tell the people who run this conference to provide more power strips.
elearing.cps.k12.il.us is the site for the workshop that I have nothing written about right now. Very dry, very technical, and yet it was also very thorough and deliberate. In a nutshell, gathering data simply isn’t enough. You have to use the data to draw conclusions and then make changes.

You’re right. This is the most important thing every computer user needs to remember. Save. Save. Save. You’ll never know when your battery will run out or a power outtage will happen. You have to be prepared.

I think we should learn to save wisely. Learn to sort out and name your documents properly to avoid duplication of documents and eating a significant space in your computer.

If you think you have the tendency to do multiple saving of same file, try also to clean up your computer regularly. This way you will refrain from confusing yourself as to which file is current. Also, you will be able to have more available disk space in case you need it urgently.

Saving documents saved my life. I have this obsession that I save the contents of my laptop on an external hard disk every weekend. I was flying to another state for an important business presentation when I realized that I left my laptop on my desk at home. The only thing I have inside the bag was the hard disk. I just barrowed my colleague’s laptop and the presentation went just fine.

Man, is that ever true, save, save, save.
One time I was in Rio de Janeiro and had the most amazing stuff on my laptop. My battery was running down quickly and I was looking for a 110 V outlet (they use both). Just as I found one, it died, nothing saved!!
