Like my site? The software is now free.
Found this one via Educational Weblogs. pMachine Pro, the same software that I use for my three blogs (this one, dembo.org, and my test blog, is now completely free. A year or so ago, they came out with Expression Engine which does all sorts of fancy things, none of which I really need (or at least I don’t know that I need them yet). pMachine Pro has been easy to use and fills all of my needs so far. And now it’s being retired and offered for free. One more fantastic tool that educators can be using. You could easily take the oldest computer you have, throw on a free copy of linux, add on pMachine and you have everything you need to serve up blogs to your school for free. I know there’s a ton of online ways as well, but this gives you a serious amounnt of control over the editorial process and security.
I like it when companies give away their leftovers. Especially when they really are great products.
{edit} Guess what? pMpost, a desktop editor for pMachine has just gone up to 2.0. Oh yeah, it’s also free now too. Cool, eh?
